I don't have time. The circumstances aren't right. I can't do it. These are all stories we tell ourselves. Usually-false stories that we let hold us back from moving forward with our creative work. This week on the podcast, I'm diving into the truth behind the stories, giving you advice on what to focus on instead, and showing how I move through my own self-defeating stories. If you're tired of thinking you don't have time or tired of not making your move or just-plain tired, this episode is for you! **100 Rejection Letters** - Registration open through 10/31/16

Michelle Bablo is an event designer and the founder and Creative Director of Hell Yes Design Studio, and I was thrilled to talk with her for this week's episode of Raise Your Hand Say Yes. Michelle's philosophy of "Fuck up and Win" speaks to my heart loud and clear and I loved hearing some of her behind-the-scenes stories of things that didn't go right and what she learned from those experiences! We also talked about the power of creating your own career, how to stay authentic to your own voice (and why it's so critical in creative industries!), and what to do after you have your "did I just commit to that crazy thing?" freak out. If you're someone who's ready to take some risks in your creative life and career, this episode is for you! Michelle, I adore you! Thank you for bringing everything you've got to this episode!

This week on Raise Your Hand Say Yes, I had the great fortune to get to sit down with writer Suzi Barrett, and our conversation is chock full of inspiration. Suzi is the comic genius behindKnock Knocks Affirmators cards and the I Hate California series on funny or die, has appeared on “Drunk History,” “@Midnight,” “How I Met Your Mother,” and plays Kirby’s mom on on Disney XD’s show “Kirby Buckets.” This episode is perfect for anyone who struggles with self-promotion (hint: just keep creating), has ever wondered what it takes to make something go viral (hint: just keep creating), has a hard time trusting their own voice (hint: just keep creating), or gets caught up in fear (hint: kick it in the nuts and just keep creating). You'll also hear all about Suzi's philosophy of just be grass and how it's inspired this: “When I don’t feel like writing or when I don’t know if an idea is great, I write it anyway, because I’m trying to be grass.”

This week, I got to sit down with Jessica Morgan and Heather Cocks, the writers behind Go Fug Yourself and one of my favorite books The Royal We, for Raise Your Hand Say Yes. In this episode, we go behind the scenes of what it's really like to run a super glam celebrity fashion website and write an amazing novel. (Hint: there's a lot of hard work involved. And diet cokes! And compression socks!) (Hint #2: Laughter helps a lot.) You'll hear how Heather and Jessica have evolved their voices on Go Fug Yourself through the years, how they got The Royal We written collaboratively, what they learned from the earlier books they wrote, and their tips for anyone who's feeling shy about putting their work out into the world. And, of course, we talk about Hamilton. Heather and Jessica, thank you so much for making the time to share your stories!!

In this week's bonus quickie episode, Tiffany answers the question she hears so often, "Should I start that podcast/blog/art project/creative endeavor I can't get out of my head?" Spoiler alert: her answer is yes, but with a pretty big asterisk.

Aaaaaaannnnd welcome to Season 3 of Raise Your Hand Say Yes! I am thrilled to be kicking this season off with my 100th episode (!!) featuring the always-inspiring Dallas Clayton. (An aside: WHAT?! 100 episodes in and I'm getting to talk to my creative heroes? How cool is this gig?) I've had Dallas on my interviewee-dream-list since the podcast launched and our conversation did not disappoint! We talked about what to do with political differences, how to have new experiences (even if you can't travel all the time), what to do about nerves, and even how to turn twitter into something you (gasp!) might love! You'll also hear what happened when his phone died in the middle of the Wisconsin woods in the dead of winter, how he found himself painting an abandoned crane on a Utah mountain-side, and the challenge that *might* make him nervous. Enjoy, and if you haven't yet, come hang out with us in the RYHSY facebook group! Get your episode cheat sheet and fb group invitation here!
